Description

The late, HRH King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and The HM King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain respectively donated a financial grant and land to the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) for the development of an Integrated Academic Medical City to be known as the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Medical City (KAMC). The proposed healthcare facility development with a plot area of 1,000,000 square meters is located in the Al Jaserah area, Southern Governorate, approximately 40km south of Manama City and 3 KM to the North of Durrat Al Bahrain. The Master Plan provides for a Two-phased development of the Integrated Academic Medical City comprising of an Academic Medical Centre, Medical School with Research Facility, Staff and Students Accommodation, Future Commercial Areas and other supporting facilities and Infrastructure which will realise the AGU’s vision of a flagship healthcare and university catering to the academic health centres and health sciences, and enhancing the experience for families, staff and the public in both Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC Region.


The Phase-1 Development focuses on the Academic Medical Centre Buildings comprising 264 beds plus 12 Labor/Delivery/Recovery Rooms and 12 Pediatric/Infirmary Beds (Total 288 Beds) and Diagnostic, treatment, outpatient services, logistical and administrative functions, as well as Infrastructure Works within the KAMC Plot Limit. The Project has been granted a “Strategic Project” status by the Government of Kingdom of Bahrain and is seeking the LEED V3 2009 Silver Certification in New Construction, upon the scheduled completion of the Phase-1 Works by December 2021.
